Skin Checks

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Regular skin checks can help find skin cancers early, when they are easier to treat.

At our sister clinic, Preston Skin Doctors, our doctors provide thorough top-to-toe skin checks using a dermatoscope to examine moles and spots closely. Please do not wear make-up, but do wear easy-to-remove clothing and your best underwear!

What happens during a skin check?
Your doctor will ask about your sun exposure, previous skin cancers, family history and any spots you are concerned about.

Your skin is then carefully checked from head to toe. If your doctor finds a suspicious spot, they may recommend monitoring it, taking a small biopsy or removing it.

Skin biopsies and skin cancer excisions (surgical removals) can be performed on-site by our experienced doctors. This will usually be booked on a different day so we have time and nurses to assist.

You should also book a skin check if you notice a spot that is new, changing in size, shape or colour, bleeding, itchy or just looks different from your other spots.

Due for a skin check or worried about a spot? Book a skin check with Preston Skin Doctors, or via our book an appointment link.
